What is CSEET Eligibility Criteria 2026 ?


To get into the Company Secretary program, hopefuls must pass the CSEET - a required initial test given by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. It’s how students begin their journey toward becoming Company Secretaries.

CSEET 2026 Eligibility Criteria


Educational Qualification


Minimum Requirement: Pass in Class 12 or equivalent examination


Accepted Boards:


  • CBSE, ICSE, State Boards

  • International Boards (Cambridge, IB, etc.)

  • National Open School (NIOS)

  • Any recognized board in India


Stream: 


  • Any stream accepted

  • Commerce students

  • Science students

  • Arts/Humanities students


The percentage needed is:  There is no minimum % required.  Regardless of your score—50% or 90%—you qualify!


Pro Tip: It is possible to register provisionally even if you are awaiting your Class 12 results.


Age Limit


Good News: There is NO age limit for CSEET!

Whether you're:


  • Fresh Class 12 passout (17-18 years)

When Can You Register?


Timing: You can register for CSEET immediately after passing Class 12. No waiting period required.


Example Timeline:


  • May 2025: Class 12 results declared

  • June 2025: Register for CSEET

  • July 2025: Appear for CSEET exam


Unlike CA Foundation (4-month gap needed), CSEET allows immediate registration and exam.


CSEET 2026 Exam Schedule


ICSI conducts CSEET multiple times per year:


  • January Session: Usually held in mid-January

  • May Session: Usually held in mid-May

  • July Session: Usually held in mid-July

  • November Session: Usually held in mid-November

You can choose any session based on your preparation level.


Registration Process Overview


Step 1: Visit icsi.edu website 

Step 2: Register as New Student 

Step 3: Fill CSEET registration form 

Step 4: Upload documents (photo, signature, Class 12 marksheet) 

Step 5: Pay registration fees (₹1,000 approximately) 

Step 6: Submit and receive registration number


Validity: CSEET registration is valid for 1 year. You can attempt exams within that period.


Documents Required


Mandatory:


  • Class 12 marksheet (or provisional certificate)

  • Date of birth proof (10th certificate/birth certificate)

  • Photograph (recent passport size)

  • Signature (scanned)

  • Aadhar card/any government ID


For Foreign Students:


  • Passport copy

  • Equivalent qualification proof

Common Eligibility Questions


Q: Can I appear for CSEET while in Class 12? 

A: No. You must have passed Class 12 first.


Q: I'm a graduate. Can I skip CSEET? 

A: No. CSEET is mandatory for everyone, regardless of graduation.


Q: What if I fail CSEET? 

A: You can reappear in next session. Multiple attempts allowed.


Q: Is there negative marking? 

A: No negative marking. Attempt all questions!


Q: Can I change exam center after registration? 

A: Yes, during the correction window.


Direct Entry to CS Executive?


Important: Unlike CA (where graduates get direct entry to Inter), CS has no direct entry. Everyone must clear CSEET first.


Why? 

ICSI wants to ensure all students have basic aptitude before entering executive program.

CA Foundation:


  • Requires 4-month gap after registration

  • Harder exams


CSEET:


  • No waiting period

  • Age limit: None

  • MCQ-based, easier format


CMA Foundation:


  • Similar to CA
